Shining the light on Hillcrest’s heroes: Hillcrest Maintenance key workers

Posted: April 20, 2020

We were upset to see one of our Hillcrest Maintenance vans vandalised last night with graffiti saying ‘stay at home’. As the driver is one of the nation’s key workers this just isn’t possible.

Over the past week we’ve been highlighting the essential work staff across Hillcrest have been carrying out. Today we want to shine the spotlight on our Hillcrest Maintenance team and say a huge thank you to everyone for their hard work and dedication during these unprecedented times.

Our repairs team has been working tirelessly to carry out emergency repairs in our properties to ensure the health and safety of our tenants is safeguarded. The team has had to alter the way they work, with only one person in each van at a time. This can make some tasks more difficult and time-consuming, however this hasn’t stopped them from making sure every vital job is getting done.

A comment we received from one of our tenants said: “My mum would like to thank Hillcrest and maintenance staff. Her shower was broken on Sunday so she called the emergency repair team and explained she works in the hospital. On Monday evening she came home from work and Hillcrest had installed a new shower for her. Thank you again.”

Meanwhile our cleaners have also continued to carry out their essential duties. This includes final void cleans to make the properties available for any emergency situations, as well as cleaning supported accommodation so that properties are safe for vulnerable and homeless people.

The team has also been carrying out infection control related cleaning of communal areas including lifts and door handles, as well as waste and fire hazard removal from common areas. This work helps to minimise the spread of the virus and keeps our residents safe.

Huge thank you again to everyone in the Hillcrest Maintenance team – the work you do helps to keep people safe during this unsettling time and is ultimately saving lives.
