Hillcrest Futures’ drama group dazzle in their fifth annual show

Posted: November 13, 2019

A group of talented performers with support needs wowed the crowd with their underwater adventure themed show “The Sea King’s Daughter” in Dundee last weekend.

Supported by Hillcrest Futures, the Glee Club Drama Group performed their fifth annual production in the city’s Space Theatre.

Julie Horan, Hillcrest Futures’ improvements coordinator was one of those involved in organising the show. She commented: “Everyone’s had a great time! The members of the drama group really enjoyed getting into character by dressing up in their costumes and putting on a brilliant performance.

“From technical support and choreography, to driving our performers to and from rehearsals, bringing the production together is very much a team effort with all of our volunteers and staff helping to deliver every aspect of the show.

“I would like to extend my thanks to everyone involved, with a special mention to Thomson Leng Musical Society for their continuing help and support.”

Hillcrest Futures’ managing director, Joy Dunlop said: “This is the group’s fifth production since they were established in 2014, and they just keep getting better and better!

“Performing in front of a large audience in a theatre setting is both extremely exciting and rewarding for this group. It is fantastic to see their confidence grow each year, and they should all be extremely proud of their performance.

“Drama is one of various activities we provide at our activities hub in Dundee to help enhance people’s lives and promote social inclusion.
