Hillcrest Futures celebrates volunteers over afternoon tea

Posted: October 5, 2021

Hillcrest Futures held a celebratory afternoon tea at The Woodlands Hotel in Broughty Ferry last week to recognise the volunteers who help at its boutique charity shop, Past Present Futures.

Attendees enjoyed a catch up over a selection of sandwiches, scones and cakes before being presented with various prizes and tokens of appreciation by Hillcrest Futures’ managing director Joy Dunlop and chairperson Brenda Fenton.

Joy Dunlop paid tribute to the volunteers for their hard work and dedication over the pandemic. She said: “We’re truly grateful for all of the volunteers who play such a vital role at Past Present Futures. Thanks to their time and commitment we have achieved a fantastic boutique that provides an exceptional customer experience as well as generating much needed funds for our services.

“They are such a talented group with skills which range from designing eye-catching window displays, creating content for social media and preparing donated items for sale, and they have done so throughout the challenges of the pandemic. Most of all their warmth and customer focus means we have a strong base of returning customers and are highly regarded in the community.”

Sergio Soave has volunteered at Past Present Futures for over a year. He commented: “I love volunteering at the shop. It’s a brilliant place to work in thanks to the beautiful surroundings and friendly atmosphere with colleagues and the shop manager.

“I enjoy giving my time and energy to help raise money and awareness for such a worthy cause in the community, whilst helping the environment by recycling and reusing pre-owned goods.”

Past Present Futures, based in Gray Street in Broughty Ferry, sells a range of second hand designer and high street items at affordable prices. All money raised goes to Hillcrest Futures to support vulnerable people to live fulfilling and independent lives.
