Gowrie’s drama group put on a “snow”-stopping performance!

Posted: January 28, 2019

A group of talented performers with support needs wowed the crowd with their rendition of the classic fairy tale Snow White in Dundee last week.

Supported by Gowrie Care, the Glee Club Drama Group performed Snow White and Friends to an audience of over 50 people at Gowrie’s community hub in the Hilltown.

Julie Horan, Gowrie’s improvements coordinator was one of those involved in organising the show. She commented: “Everyone’s had a ball! The drama members loved getting into character by dressing up in their costumes and putting on a real entertaining show.

“From technical support and stage assistance, to driving our performers to rehearsals, bringing this production to the stage was very much a team effort with all our volunteers and staff pulling together to deliver every aspect of the show.

“I would like to extend my thanks to everyone involved, with a special mention to Thomson Leng Musical Society for their help and support and Duncan Gillies for the stage lighting which helped transform the hub into a theatre.”

Gowrie’s managing director, Joy Dunlop said: “This is the drama group’s fourth production since the group was established in 2014, and they just keep getting better and better!

“Staging a theatre production and performing in front of an audience is both exciting and rewarding for this enthusiastic group. Everyone involved should be extremely proud of their performance.

“Drama is one of various activities we provide at our community hub to help enhance people’s lives and reduce social exclusion and isolation. Other workshops include computing, cooking, day trips and arts and crafts and the sessions are available for anyone aged 16 or over with support needs.”
