Doo’cot Park’s garden in full bloom after funding

Posted: September 6, 2017

The team at Gowrie Care’s Doo’cot Park service celebrated the completion of their Tesco funded garden with a special afternoon tea party in Arbroath on Saturday.

The service won a £12,000 grant in a public vote as part of Tesco’s Bags of Help campaign last year.

Service manager, Elaine Stewart said: “We are delighted with the finished garden – this funding has enabled us to create something really special for the residents.

“The garden now has a special sensory outdoor space featuring, lights, sounds, raised beds, great smells and vibrant colours… All of which are providing life enhancing experiences.”

The residents of Doo’cot Park service are supported with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD).

People with PMLD find it extremely difficult to communicate and many experience the world largely on a sensory level.

Elaine Stewart continued: “We would like to thank everyone who voted for us and Tesco for including us in their wonderful campaign; it really has made a difference.”

Tesco’s Bags of Help is a local community grant scheme where the money raised from the 5p bag charge is used to fund thousands of local projects in communities across the UK.
