Brexit – important information for EU citizens

Posted: December 3, 2019

When Brexit takes place, every EU citizen, including family members and children – even those born here, must apply to remain in the UK.

If you do not apply to remain in the UK, you will not legally be able to stay here meaning you cannot access welfare benefits, housing or the National Health Service, and may be deported.

EU Citizens Support is a free, specialist support service provided by Citizens Advice Scotland to help you with all aspects of applying to live in the UK.

As part of this support service, you can contact a specialist full-time national helpline on 0800 916 9847.

Lines are open Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm. Alternatively, your local Citizens Advice Bureau can offer face to face help. You can also find out more information online here.

If you have any other queries about welfare benefits please contact the Tenancy Sustainment Service on 0300 123 2640.
