Hillcrest's Open Day

Over 200 Hillcrest tenants made their way to the Marryat Hall on Saturday to take part in an informative, interesting and fun day. Hillcrest Housing Association’s Open Day built on the success of last year’s, using feedback from tenants’ comments and suggestions, making it a bigger and better day.

With over 30 information stands, tenants were able to find out about different services that Hillcrest provide. This included ways to save money through being more energy efficient, Hillcrest’s Money Advice Officer who can help with financial advice and staff were on hand to answer any housing or maintenance questions. On top of this there were external organisations represented, meaning tenants could learn about a range of things including home composting, colleges, adult learning courses and many more. There was a reflexoligist on hand to help tenants relax and offer hand massages and advice.

Fiona Morrison, Director of Housing, said “It is very encouraging to see so many tenants coming along, showing an interest in Hillcrest and participating. The range of information stands, children’s activities and staff on hand meant that everyone could get something out of the day.”

Some of the feedback comments received included “the whole day was really nice, would come back next year”, “could not ask for anything more, thanks to everyone”, “A fantastic day and very informative, never realised Hillcrest was such a big organisation and does so much for the community”, “hurry up for next year”.
