Hillcrest Launches New Service

Hillcrest Enterprises launched a new maintenance service company today. Hillcrest Enterprises is part of the Hillcrest Group of Companies and will initially offer a void service to the parent company, Hillcrest Housing Association.

Martin Crombie, Director of Social Enterprise, explained that “having Hillcrest’s Maintenance Service take responsibility for turning our voids around will ensure that these properties are fit to let more quickly than in the past.”

A manager and 6 tradesmen have already been recruited. The company’s business plan sees the company branching into kitchen replacement programmes in the autumn of 2007 and an expansion of the void service at the start of the new financial year in 2008.

Hillcrest Maintenance Services was set up as a social enterprise and Martin explained that “it is already stepping up to its social aims and objectives. Hillcrest Enterprises is also a partner in the toolbox project and is working in partnership with Dundee Employability Partnership, Scottish Enterprise and the Dundee Wider Role Alliance, to target young people aged between 16 to 19 who have left school but are currently not in training or employment. Hillcrest Maintenace Services has already agreed to take on six young people from the Toolbox project.”
