Scottish Home Awards Finalist

The finalists for the 2008 Scottish Home Awards have been announced and Hillcrest Housing Association is one of them.

We have been shortlisted in the Affordable Housing Development of the Year, in conjunction with Thomas Mitchell Homes. The other companies in that category are Bryant Homes for Slateford Village; Cala Homes for Briery Meadow, Haddington; Dunedin Canmore Housing Association for 494 Gorgie Road, Edinburgh; Gladedale (Central Scotland) Ltd for Richmond Gate, Oatlands.

Hillcrest has been nominated for their development at John Knox Road, St Andrews.

Sponsored by the Dunfermline Building Society, the awards programme, which is in its first year, attracted a huge number of entries.

An independent judging panel of influential figures from the housing industry met last week to judge the entries.

Margaret Curran MSP, Chair of the Judging Panel said: “The judges have scrutinised the entries and deliberated the merits of each one to agree the finalists and of course the winners. I am delighted that thirty-five house builders and housing associations from across Scotland are represented here.

“We have been impressed with the high standard of entries which have clearly demonstrated the innovation, creativity and quality of work within Scotland’s house building sector.”

Peter Weanie, Director, Dunfermline Building Society said: “We are delighted that the industry has embraced the awards with such enthusiasm in this its first year.”

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony and dinner on April 10 at the EICC, Edinburgh.
