CraigOwl Communities Joins Hillcrest Group
Two of Dundee’s top charities are joining forces to strengthen their support to local people. From 1st April, CraigOwl Communities will join the hillcrest Group, headed by Hillcrest Housing Association.
Fiona Morrison, Director of Housing at Hillcrest, explains that “Both organisations have a history of working together and our wider role activities compliment the core activities of CraigOwl. Hillcrest is more than just a housing association and engages in a number of non RSL activities. The merger will further the compatible aims of each organisation and most importantly improve the lives of the people in the communities we operate.”
Hillcrest’s work has always focused on more than just providing housing. CraigOwl provide learning opportunities, training and qualifications, guidance and support to people who want to improve their circumstances and realise their potential. Lara Moir, CraigOwl Chief Executive commented that “It has become clear over the last few years that Hillcrest HA and CraigOwl have similar objectives in relation to supporting local people to improve their circumstances – whether through housing, employment or skills. We already work together on a number of projects and the merger is a natural next step.
“The merger is an exciting opportunity for us. We will be able to offer an increased range of services, explore new ventures and benefit from Hillcrest’s in-house services such as staff training, health and safety and IT.”
