Don’t be hampered by shopping this Christmas!

This festive season Hillcrest is proudly supporting the Discovery Food Programme in their ‘Christmas 2010 Hamper’ appeal. The aim of the appeal is to raise funds for those in financial hardship in Dundee this Christmas through the sale of hampers.

John Mulloy, Hillcrest Chief Executive, commented that “Hillcrest is delighted to be supporting the Discovery Food Programme’s Christmas Hamper project. Supporting local projects is important to us and as we work closely with Discovery throughout the year, we thought it was a great opportunity to give back something at Christmas. Last year we were able to help through our Bring it Tin campaign so this year we are hoping to raise awareness about the sale of hampers to ensure that they raise as much money as possible.”

The Discovery Food Programme is a Dundee-based outreach service which provides support to those facing poverty in Dundee in the form of food shopping. As a charitable non-profit project, the programme relies on fundraising to continue its good work and to raise funds this year they are looking to sell as many hampers as possible.

John Mulloy furthered this sentiment by adding that “buying a hamper allows people to help alleviate short-term poverty for individuals and families in Dundee this Christmas and hopefully the support that Hillcrest gives will ensure the campaign is a festive success.”

The hampers are full of treats, making them a great gift idea, and are available for the small sum of £10. To order your Christmas Hamper call 01382 226372 or email ewan@discovery-outreach.org.
