New Affordable Homes in Crieff

Communities Minister, Rhona Brankin, yesterday announced that 27 new affordable homes will be built in Crieff. Developed by Hillcrest Housing Association, with funding of over £1.4 million from Communities Scotland, the new homes will be in the town’s Alligan Road. Sixteen will be for social rent while 11 will be available for low-cost home ownership.

The minister was speaking on a visit to the site at Oudenarde, Bridge of Earn, where she was shown plans for 300 new affordable homes in a development by Hillcrest Housing Association with support from Communities Scotland. Approving the investment for new homes across Perthshire, Rhona Brankin said:
“This year, through Communities Scotland, the Executive is investing a record £21 million in affordable housing in Perth and Kinross.
“The Executive is committed to providing high-quality affordable housing for rent and low-cost ownership throughout Scotland.
“This commitment recognises choice. It recognises that some people on low incomes cannot afford or do not want to buy a home. It also recognises that some want to be able to make that first step into property ownership.
“These new homes in Perthshire will allow people in rural areas to stay and work locally, contributing fully to the life and economy of their communities.”

Manus McGinty, Director of Development at Hillcrest Housing Association, added:
“The development now underway in Alligan Road complements our project already on-site at nearby Broich Terrace and our imminent development at Duchlage Farm, Crieff.
“Together, they will provide 64 houses and flats for rent and shared ownership to be completed in the town within the next two years. We are committed to continue to create affordable housing opportunities, in a range of sizes and tenures, for local people in Crieff and indeed throughout Perthshire.”
