New Programme for Hillcrest Enterprises
Hillcrest Enterprises (HE) are about to embark on a new construction training programme in the Dundee area. Working in partnership with Dundee City Council, Scottish Enterprise and the Dundee Wider Role Alliance, the programme will be targeting young people aged between 16 to 19 who have left school but are currently not in training or employment.
The programme aims to match young people, who are interested in joining the construction industry, with participating building contractors. The young person will work as a trainee, on the construction sites to gain valuable site experience. They will also participate in formal training to gain a recognised qualification. The site monitoring and training will be carried out by HE staff.
It is hoped that with relevant site experience and meaningful training, the trainees at the end of the programme, will be more job ready to take up employment and training opportunities, hopefully within the construction industry.
Initially the programme will run for 12 months but we hope that further funding will be available in future years to allow the programme to keep running.
