40th Anniversary Staff Conference

The Hillcrest group of companies recently held their best staff conference yet! Nearly 200 members of staff from throughout the companies made their way to the West Park Conference Centre, dressed appropriately from one of the decades, to take part in a day that involved celebrating the 40 years that Hillcrest has been in operation.

Opening with presentations from John Mulloy, Group Chief Executive and Damian McGowan, Gowrie Care Managing Director, staff were able to get more of an insight into the history and origins of the various companies and a look at the vision and direction for the future. This was carried through into workshops where smaller groups had the opportunity to discuss the guiding principles of Excellence, Impact and Innovation and what they meant for individual jobs. Ideas gathered about what the Group of companies might look like in 10, 20, 30 and 40 years will be fed back to the Committee of Management and Directors.

The afternoon took on a fun element with staff being split into small teams to take part in a quiz looking back over the 4 decades. This was followed by presentations to the longest serving members of staff from Hillcrest Housing Association and Gowrie Care Ltd and finished with the launch of a new promotional DVD which left staff motivated and proud of the organisation.

Feedback included, “This year’s conference was the best so far. It is always interesting to hear about Hillcrest’s plans for the future and this year was interesting to hear the past history. The DVDs at the end were informative and makes your job worthwhile when you hear the tenants’ comments and how happy they are.”

“The whole day motivated me and reminded me how good it is to work for Hillcrest and how we can make a difference to peoples’ lives.”

Everyone involved is looking forward to next year’s event and hope to build on the enormous success of this year.
