Hillcrest Go for the Double

The Hillcrest Group of Companies’ commitment to their staff and the environment was recently highlighted when they were reaccredited to Investors in People and became the first Scottish Registered Social Landlord to be registered to ISO 14001.

On presenting the Investors in People Award, Peter Russian, Chief Executive of Investors in People, commented that “This is a significant achievement for the Hillcrest Group which demonstrates their clear commitment to their people, and through them to their local communities. The Hillcrest Group has shown their determination to work towards being an exemplary employer, and I commend them for the great progress they are making”. As well as continuing to meet the Investors in People Standard, Hillcrest met a range of evidence requirements at a higher level of the standard.

ISO 14001 is an internationally accepted standard and Hillcrest’s registration shows that they have an effective Environmental Management System in place and are committed to preventing pollution in all forms, complying with all relevant environmental regulations and striving for continual improvements.

John Mulloy, Hillcrest Group Chief Executive said “We are delighted to have achieved registration to ISO 14001 which will hopefully demonstrate how serious we are about environmental issues and the impact our work has. In 2005 we were the first Scottish Housing Association to appoint a dedicated full time Sustainability Officer who then went on to develop a sustainability policy and action plans for each of our departments. ISO 14001 has allowed us to effectively structure our plans and determine what our focus should be. New plans are now being drawn up for 2008/09 which will concentrate on reducing waste and energy use.”
