Disability 2 Tick Accreditation for Hillcrest

The Hillcrest Group of companies was today presented with Disability 2 Tick Accreditation from Jobcentre Plus.

On receiving the award Allan McGonigle, Hillcrest HR Manager, commented that “We are delighted to be recognised for the work we do in this area. All of the companies within the Hillcrest Group are committed to employing, keeping and developing the abilities of all of our staff and, in particular, those who have, or develop, a disability. We are committed to the criteria laid down in the accreditation regarding recruitment, training, retention, consultation and disability awareness.”

The Disability symbol requires employers to meet 5 commitments in relation to employing disabled people. These include making every effort, when employees become disabled, to make sure they stay in employment, consulting disabled employees and reviewing the commitments annually to ensure improvements are made.

Allan McGonigle continued that “This is a long term commitment. We will strive to continually improve on the commitments set down and ensure we are doing everything possible to develop and encourage employees with disabilities.”

Congratulating the Hillcrest Group, Etta Wright, District Manager for Forth Valley, Fife & Tayside Jobcentre Plus said,” This is a great achievement. It‘s essential that potential employees are given an equal chance in the workplace and have the opportunity to prove their ability and skills regardless of their circumstances. The retention of existing employees who develop health conditions also makes good business sense. “
