CRAIGOWL COMMUNITIES AND HILLCREST IN PARTNERING TALKS

Hillcrest Housing Association and CraigOwl Communities are in discussion about closer forms of partnership working including the possible option of CraigOwl joining the Hillcrest group of companies as a subsidiary of Hillcrest H.A.

The organisations have a history of working together for mutual benefit in furthering the compatible aims of each organisation; to improve the lives of people in communities in which they operate. CraigOwl currently rent premises from Hillcrest at Lawside Works and on the Hilltown in Dundee, receive IT support services from Hillcrest and some joint project work is ongoing. Both organisations provide a degree of similar services in relation to training opportunities and employment initiatives.

The discussions which are taking place recognise the existing partnership working between CraigOwl and Hillcrest and also address the Scottish Government’s general efficiency and procurement agenda. Both organisations acknowledge a broad compatibility in mission, approach and activities and the potential for further collaborative activity.

CraigOwl is a company limited by guarantee with charitable status with an overall aim of improving people’s prospects through community-based adult learning and training opportunities. Based in Dundee most of CraigOwl’s activities are located in the city though they also have some Tayside-wide services.

Hillcrest H.A. is one of Scotland’s leading traditional housing associations with an existing range of subsidiary companies undertaking activities which are complementary to the core objective of improving individuals’ lives, neighbourhoods and communities.

While no timescale is set for the conclusion of the discussions both organisations are briefing staff on the partnering talks and recommendations on outcomes are expected in the late summer/early autumn.
