Lord Provost Meets Apprentices

Dundee’s Lord Provost John Letford visited W H Brown Construction at Ainslie Street, West Pitkerro, Dundee on Monday. Following a discussion with the WH Brown Directors about the construction industry, the Lord Provost was given a tour of the workshops, during which he took the time to speak with the Hillcrest Enterprise bricklaying apprentices who are currently gaining practical experience with WH Brown.

The apprentices, who are gaining their qualifications through the Hillcrest Enterprise apprenticeship training initiative, are currently working towards their SQV qualification and split their time between practical on site work experience and training from Hillcrest’s qualified trainers. The Hillcrest SQA approved training model allows for a 1 to 4 ratio of trainer to apprentice the majority of the time, which delivers their first two years training in only 18 months. The Apprenticeship Scheme aims to ensure that those who complete their apprenticeship are equipped with necessary skills to take up employment or further their training.
