Hillcrest HQ
Today was a milestone for the construction of a local company’s new headquarters. Hillcrest Housing Association is relocating to Explorer Road where their office will be an iconic building for Dundee’s Technology Park incorporating many environmentally friendly and sustainable features into its design.
The new property will act as the Group headquarters for the Hillcrest Group of companies, including Hillcrest Housing Association Ltd, Hillcrest Enterprises Ltd and Gowrie Care Ltd. Today saw representatives of Hillcrest, the design team and the principal contractor WH Brown Construction Ltd mark the completion of the roof structure with a “topping out” celebration.
John Mulloy, Hillcrest Group Chief Executive commented that “Today is an important day for everyone involved. Following a lengthy planning process we are understandably delighted that work has progressed to this stage and we are confident of completion by October 2010.
“Our new HQ incorporates a number of contributory sustainable design elements including predominantly timber frame, floors and roof structures, use of natural ventilation and solar shading, a biomass heating system and use of natural and recycled materials both internally and externally. We will be proud to deliver one of only a handful of BREEAM excellent properties in Scotland.”
The headquarters is being built by local contractor, WH Brown Construction, giving a much needed boost to the local construction sector. John Mulloy continued “Some Dundee youngsters are getting part of their apprenticeship experience served on the project as W H Brown partners Hillcrest in supporting an innovative construction industry training scheme. In the current economic climate this project is good news for Dundee and reflects Hillcrest’s confidence in its own future”
The new property shall for the first time in several years, accommodate all support services for the Hillcrest Group including, Finance, HR, Corporate Services, Asset Management, Development, Wider role and Gowrie Care under one roof and offer enhanced working efficiencies.
