Perth to benefit from new affordable development
A number of Hillcrest tenants recently moved into their new homes in Perth. The old Jeanfield Swifts playing field is now home to 24 flats designed and built by Persimmon Homes Ltd.
Derek Reid, Senior Housing Officer at Hillcrest commented that “We are very pleased with the end result and the Beechmount development will be a great home for the people moving in. We are happy to be working in partnership with Perth and Kinross Council in the common housing register to help in meeting the housing need of local people.
“Affordable housing is essential in areas like Perth where the housing market is so pressurised. Hillcrest is delighted to be able to offer people an affordable option to meet their housing need.”
Hillcrest Housing Association now has an office at 55 Huntingtower Road in Perth. Derek Reid continued that “Hillcrest is committed to the Perthshire area and being located in Perth will allow us to develop existing work and raise the potential for future developments and partnerships.”
Work started on site in February 2009 with a contract worth over £2.6 million and everyone involved is happy to see the project delivered within budget and on time, allowing the new tenants to be settled in before Christmas.
Colin Connell Development Director for Persimmon Partnerships commented, “Persimmon is delighted to work in partnership with Hillcrest Housing Association, providing much needed affordable housing in the Fair City."
"We have a strong pedigree in the affordable housing sector and with good relationships with Housing Associations across Scotland we are well placed to meet the need for affordable homes across the community".
