Award winning Hillcrest

Hillcrest Housing Association was successful in winning the “Affordable Development of the Year” award at Friday’s Scottish Home Awards. They had been nominated for 2 awards with Gilmour’s Close, Grassmarket Edinburgh being the successful project in the affordable development category.

With Gilmour’s Close being a listed building in a world heritage site, the refit and the rehabilitation of the development faced particular difficulties. The project specifically tackled the difficult task of refurbishing an existing building to minimise CO2 emissions and dependency on non-renewable energy.

John Mulloy commented that “I am delighted that we were recognised with 2 nominations and managed to walk away with the Affordable Development of the year award. This is the recognition that staff deserve for their hard work and commitment put into this development.”
