Gowrie Care Celebrates Learning

Gowrie Care staff had plenty to shout about - as you can see from this picture - at their Recognition and Awards ceremony held on the 20th September at the West Park Centre in Dundee.

A record breaking total of 47 workers successfully achieved a range of SVQ awards from Health & Social Care at Level 2 through to the Verifier Award.

A magnificent thirty-two Support Workers passed their HSC at Level 3, while nine managers achieved their HSC at Level 4. We had two members of staff complete their Assessor award while another two achieved the V1 Verifier award.

Finally, for the first time ever within Gowrie Care two Assistant Support Workers achieved their HSC award at Level 2. Special mention has to go to Mary Inglis who in achieving her HSC level 2 become the first member of Gowrie Care staff to successfully complete an award using our new web based paperfree e-portfolio system.

In addition, a further nine members of staff were recognised for their contribution and commitment to providing quality training to their colleagues across the organisation. Congratulation and thanks to one and all.

The sense of success and occasion on the day was further highlighted by the presence of our guest of honour, Fiona Clark (Scottish Social Services Council’s Learning and Development Adviser). Fiona was fulsome in her praise and recognition of the commitment and hard work undertaken by all concerned and kindly presented the awards to the successful candidates.

Plans are already underway that will guarantee that next year will be an even bigger celebration. It’s likely to be the same place around the same time but we know we are going to need West Park’s big Balbeggie suite!
