Compass Project
Hillcrest Enterprises (HE) is working in partnership with the Dundee Employability Partnership, Working for Families and the Dundee Wider Role Alliance, to deliver a city wide community engagement programme that focuses on workless people who are currently some distance away from the labour market and encourage them into work, training or volunteering across the city
Community Animators are responsible for engaging with people on their door step or wherever they congregate, gain their confidence and refer them onto an appropriate agency such as Jobcentre+, Dundee College. a one stop approach.
Community Animators will use a number of approaches to engaging, including cold calling, referrals from other agencies or a leaflet drop. Once a conversation is underway, invariably on the doorstep, the animator will try to identify the barriers that are preventing people from moving into employment and offer advice as to where assistance and help is available.
Moving into employment can often be a major decision for a large number of people and the animator will continue to work with the individual over a period of time to assist them through this life change by building confidence and self esteem to a level that they can see a clear pathway forward to a sustainable benefit free future.
