Extra Support on offer at multis
CraigOwl staff are part of a new support team targeting Lochee’s multis to help people who may be struggling tackle some of their problems.
As well as CraigOwl, the group includes anti-social behaviour wardens, police and council workers. All of them will be on hand to improve the wellbeing of residents in and around the South road blocks.
Joy Watson, wider role manager with CraigOwl explained that “For a lot of the issues people associate with the multis, ultimately poverty is at the root of them. People might need help sorting out their benefits – maybe they think they have no job prospects and we can help them out with that or life skills, DIY and a range of other advice.”
Householder Paul Hathaway (53) welcomed the sessions, saying much had changed in the block in recent months.
“We used to have a lot of problems with drugs and drink, but since we’ve had the extra security and the ASBO officers in here everything has been much improved.
“But there are still a lot of people too shy to come forward.”
Housing drop-ins will run on he last Wednesday of every month from 2-4pm, while money management, lifestyle and employment help will be available between 1-4pm every Thursday. Free health checks will also be on offer.
